Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna
Oh, it's been a while since I posted anything on my recipe blog. I guess that happens when you travel a lot. It's been a very busy summer for me. However, between traveling and all, I still find time to cook when I'm home. Although, finding the time to post them is a different story. But don't worry, my friends, I'm back sort of...
Lately, I've been on this Ahi Tuna kick. I feel the urge of having spicy tuna roll all the time, but I keep telling myself why order out if you could make a fresh tuna dish at home and it doesn't have to be Sushi or Sashimi. So, here is my version of a Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna on a bed of Spring Mix with grilled vinaigrette fresh tomatoes drizzled with Ginger-Mango salad dressing. This is simply refreshing especially on a hot summer day. No sweat on making this dish either...enjoy!
Ingredients:
4 Ahi Tuna Steaks
2 Tbsp Ginger Powder
2 Tbsp Garlic Powder
White Pepper
Salt
2 Tbsp White Sesame Seeds
2 Tbsp Black Sesame Seeds
Spring Mix Salad
Cucumbers
Tomatoes
Olive Oil
Balsamic Vinaigrette (Bittersweet Herb Farm Maple flavored)
Salt and Pepper
Ginger-Mango Salad Dressing
*Dry spice ingredients doesn't have to be exact. I believe I used more than what was listed above. This is just an approximation.
Directions:
First, mix all the spice ingredients together (ginger and garlic powder, salt and pepper) in a small bowl. Rub the dry seasonings on the tuna steaks. Mix the sesame seeds together in a plate. Roll tuna steaks until completely covered. In a grill pan or skillet, heat a couple tablespoons of olive oil. Grilled steaks until golden brown. I like mine medium-rare, so I cook them for at least two minutes on each side. Let it rest. Slice when ready to serve.
Place the tuna steaks on a bed of salad with freshly sliced cucumbers. Drizzle with Ginger-Mango salad dressings. Then, serve it with grilled tomatoes (place fresh tomatoes on a baking dish, drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette, season with salt and pepper, broil for at least 6-8 minutes.
