Lox and Bagels
While we were vacationing in Montana, my husband kept requesting for Lox and Bagels. I would have granted his wish, but unfortunately, the nearest grocery store where we stayed in Craig was either in Great Falls or Helena, which is roughly an hour drive on either direction. Plus, none of the chain grocery stores we went to for our eight day supply of food did not carry Lox. You would think since Montana is relatively close to Alaska, where the salmon swims freely in the wild that they would have it in stock? My poor husband was out of luck as he urged for a classic Jewish food during our time off!
So today I decided to surprise him with Lox and Whole Grain Bagels with cream cheese, capers, and dill for lunch. I also included a bunch of fresh grapes and an iced cold bottled water with a single serving of red raspberry tea mix along. I quickly prepared, packed, and delivered his gourmet lunch at his office at noon. He was simply DELIGHTED! A complete meal loaded with good carbs, dairy, and protein. A sandwich fit for a King!
Lox and Bagels are usually served at Brunches, but in our household, we can have it at any time of the day. I can see it now, we'll be having it again for dinner-on-the-run tonight! Chowing down Lox and Bagels while fly fishing on the Susquehanna River this evening! With the fresh and fishy smell of the salmon, we better hook on some big bad BASS tonight! :-)
